Paws For Thought
âA dogâs loyalty isnât earned with treats or toys - itâs given freely, every single day, just for being theirs.â
Drop It!
Tips For A Peaceful Trade-Off
Your dog ðķ scoops up something they shouldnât, and suddenly itâs a showdown. Theyâre gripping it like itâs the last treat on Earth. What now?
First, donât panic - and definitely donât yank or yell. That usually makes them bite down harder or think youâre playing.
Instead, try this: grab a high-value treat (think ð§ cheese, hot dog, or leftover chicken) and hold it near their nose. Calmly say âdrop it.â Most pups canât resist the upgrade.
If itâs an emergency (like they snagged something â ïļ toxic), you can try gently opening their mouth. One hand holds the upper jaw - the other lifts the bottom or presses lightly at the base of the tongue. Only do this if you know your dog wonât bite.
Best tip? Teach âdrop itâ before you need it. Practice with safe objects and good rewards so when it really counts, youâre ready.

ðĪ Interesting Facts
Dogs Can See What We Canât
While humans are mostly stuck seeing the world ð in standard color, dogs have a special visual superpower - they can detect ultraviolet (UV) ðĶ light. This means their eyes can pick up on things that are completely invisible to us, like subtle scent trails, urine markings, or even patterns in fur and skin.
Scientists believe this ability may help dogs track animals, detect changes in their surroundings, and sense things that seem like magic to us. So next time your dog stares intensely at something you canât seeâĶ maybe ðĪ they really do know something you donât.
