Paws For Thought
“In a house with a dog, love does not sit quietly. It has paws and follows you everywhere.”
WoofStock 2026 Recap
What a turnout at 🐾 WoofStock. I had a great time meeting so many dog parents, making new friends, and snapping photos from the booth. Thanks to everyone who came by to say hello. Next event - Tamarac on Feb 21. See you there.
Pup Health
Cloudy Eyes Aren't Always Cataracts
If your older dog's eyes look cloudy or bluish, don't panic - they are probably not cataracts. Most dogs over seven develop nuclear sclerosis, a normal aging change where the lens hardens and becomes hazy. It looks alarming, but it doesn't affect vision and needs no treatment.
True cataracts are whiter, denser, and block vision. Dogs with cataracts bump into things or hesitate on stairs. Nuclear sclerosis just makes the eyes look foggy - dogs can still see fine.
Your vet can tell the difference with a simple exam. That cloudy look is usually just your dog aging, not going blind.

Interesting Dog Fact 🤔
Dogs Can Hear Your Heartbeat
While you're relaxing on the couch, your dog isn't just staring adoringly - they are listening to your heartbeat. Dogs hear frequencies up to 65,000 Hz, while we only hear up to 20,000 Hz, making your heartbeat perfectly audible from across the room.
They use this to read your emotions. Racing heart? You're stressed. Slow and steady? You're calm. This is why your dog seems to know you're anxious before you've said a word.
Next time your pup rests their head on your chest, they're tuning in to their favorite sound: you.
